High cholesterol:
I’ve been teaching for 44+ years that high cholesterol doesn’t cause heart disease, heart disease causes high cholesterol. High cholesterol is the symptom, not the problem.
Dr. Bergman emphasizes this when he says that cholesterol is the body’s attempt to compensate for an unhealthy condition (I’ve been saying that as well). In this video (that you really should watch so you’ll know more than almost any doctor), he uses an excellent analogy: Can you imagine folks saying something like, “Every time I see fire trucks, I see a house on fire. We should get rid of those fire trucks to prevent fires.” Yet that is exactly the medical attitude.
Dr. Bergman: “How do you bring down your high cholesterol? YOU DON’T!! Let the body heal itself while you give your body the resources it needs to do that.” (And stop seeing doctors and letting them confuse you!)

Here is another good one:
My husband’s last two calcium screenings have come back high risk, so with his high cholesterol his Dr. convinced him to go on statins. He’s literally on two different one. Pravastatin Sodium Tab 80 mg and Ezetimibe Tab 10 mg. This keeps his Dr. happy with his numbers but we hate him being on it! It’s scary. And changing his diet does nothing. Suggestions?
