#1. Colloidal Silver’s Astonishing Infection-Fighting Qualities

Colloidal silver is most often used for its astonishing infection-fighting qualities, which have been known since before the time of Christ. As J. Wesley Alexander stated in his overview, History of the Medical Use of Silver, published in the journal Surgical Infections in 2009:

“Metallic silver was known to the Caldeans as early as 4,000 B.C.E., and it was the third metal known to be used by the Ancients, after gold and copper. Over these millennia, silver has been used for numerous medical conditions, mostly empirically before the realization that microbes were the agents of infection.”

In other words, long before mankind had ever discovered the presence of infectious microorganisms as a cause of disease, they were using silver to combat infections.

They knew empirically – which is to say, by observation – that silver healed diseases modern science now knows to be caused by pathogenic microbes.

#2.) Colloidal Silver’s Profound Immune-Boosting Qualities

In addition to its well-known infection-fighting qualities, colloidal silver is also known to be a powerful immune system booster.

Dr. Robert O. Becker, M.D., former surgeon at Syracuse Medical University and author of the best-selling book, The Body Electric, conducted ground-breaking research into silver and healing. As mentioned in Lesson 1, he found that the lower one’s bodily silver levels are the more sickness and disease one is likely to have. He wrote in the 1970’s:

“While analyzing hair samples and questioning the parties involved, I noticed the correlation between low silver levels and sickness. People who showed low silver levels in their hair analysis were frequently sick. They seemed to have innumerable colds, flu, fevers, and various other sickness. I believe that a silver deficiency may be the key to the improper function of the immune system.”

Interestingly, silver’s immune-boosting qualities were actually first discovered over 100 years ago. Indeed, in 1909 the Journal of the American Medical Association reported that electrically generated silver ions increased white blood cell production – a crucial component of immune system function against infection.

#3. Colloidal Silver’s Pain-Relief and Inflammation-Fighting Qualities

Both oral and topical use of colloidal silver aids in bringing about often-times dramatic relief from discomfort and pain due to inflammation. According to Dr. Aundrea Adams, Ph.D., CTN:
“Many people are skeptical of claims that colloidal silver can take away pain and accelerate healing. Nevertheless, these impressive attributes are firmly grounded in medical science.

“Pain is caused by an interruption of the electrical current that normally flows throughout the body at 50 to 70 millivolts. At the point of injury, the current drops towards zero millivolts. This lack of electrical energy also impedes healing.

Colloidal silver is also known to be highly anti-inflammatory. First, it kills pathogens that cause inflammation in the body. And secondly, it has been demonstrated in clinical studies to modulate the body’s production of inflammation-promoting cytokines.

According to one recent research article:

“Kenneth Wong and others at the University of Hong Kong recently investigated the wound-healing properties of silver nanoparticles, and have shown that they do more than simply kill bacteria…new research indicates that silver goes further than this and modifies cytokines – the enzymes involved in cell growth and movement – leading to reduced inflammation and an increased rate of healing.”

Most all hospital burn wards in the U.S. and around the world use a prescription silver-based cream called Silvadene (i.e., aka Silver Sulfadiazine) to help relieve burns, stimulate skin healing and prevent infections from taking hold on burnt skin.

#7. Colloidal Silver Keeps Food Fresher, Longer

According to natural health author Angela Kaelin, colloidal silver is one of the very best natural food preservatives you can find, anywhere, at any price! She writes:

“As a natural preservative, colloidal silver is not only extremely safe and highly effective, but it provides a number of powerful health benefits to the human body, including increased immunity and greater resistance to infection and disease.

That’s why colloidal silver remains to this day the perfect added preservative for canning, as well as for lengthening the shelf life of the foods in your refrigerator or on your kitchen counter.

To prevent spoilage add 1 tablespoon of 10 ppm colloidal silver per quart when home-canning, especially if you’re using the boiling-water-bath method. Seal the lids as per usual.”

Indeed, as many colloidal silver users can attest, adding an ounce of colloidal silver to a quart of milk that’s just begun to sour will reverse the souring overnight and keep the milk fresh days longer. Silver’s ability to keep milk fresher for longer periods of time has even spurred one company in South America to produce silver-impregnated milk cartons!

What’s more, many people add a bit of colloidal silver to other foods prone to spoil early, such as cottage cheese. Some even spray their fruits and veggies with colloidal silver to keep them fresher longer and to help prevent fungus from growing on them in the refrigerator.

And many colloidal silver users wash their fruits and veggies using a colloidal silver-based fruit and vegetable wash, in order to kill pathogens such as E. coli or Salmonella. Use a solution of at least 5 to 10 ppm. 

1 cup of colloidal silver
½ cup of vinegar
2 tsp. salt (dissolve completely)

You can soak your fruits and vegetables in this solution or you can put it in a spray bottle and spray them. Either way, let the solution remain on your food for at least five minutes before rinsing and preparing as usual.

The vinegar in this solution helps to break down any waxy substances that are applied to fruits and vegetables. Water alone will not penetrate them, in fact, many pesticides are designed to be water-resistant. Salt helps to pull out any microscopic bugs. The colloidal silver will safely kill any harmful fungal, bacterial or viral pathogens.

#8. Colloidal Silver Is a Gardener’s Best Friend

According to Dr. Keith F. Courtenay, in his book, Colloidal Silver: the Hidden Truths, colloidal silver is known to heal bacterial, viral and fungal attacks on plants. He writes:

“For all bacterial, fungal and viral attacks on plants, flowers and fruit, simply spray colloidal silver on the leaves.”

This idea has recently been borne out by clinical research indicating that colloidal silver not only kills plant fungus, but produces larger and healthier crops in the process. The researchers wrote:

“This research has shown that nano-silver liquid can increase plant productivity and reduce environmental pollution…Nano-silver liquid for the prevention of various plant pathogenic fungi is highly recommended to farmers.

Additionally…it is safe for the environment and agricultural products. In conclusion, we can say that by using nano-silver liquid, environmental pollution and the excessive use of chemical compounds in the field can be reduced. Gardeners have reported great results like this for decades. But of course, anecdotal accounts don’t prove anything. They are just indicators. It’s studies like the above that provide bona-fide documentation of silver’s highly beneficial uses for crop plants.

Colloidal silver can also be used to keep cut flowers alive longer, by preventing the bacterial contamination that makes the flowers wilt. And it can even be sprayed on house plants and garden crops to get rid of aphids, or to kill fungal growths.  

#9. Colloidal Silver Is Safe and Non-Toxic

If you’ve done any research at all on colloidal silver, you’re sure to find a few shrill, off-the-wall articles warning of its alleged “toxicity.” 

But experts attest that silver has one of the safest toxicological profiles of any nutritional supplement. And recent research has proven that out. According to researchers Drake and Hazelwood, writing in “Exposure-Related Health Effects of Silver and Silver Compounds”:

“Silver in any form is not thought to be toxic to the immune, cardiovascular, nervous, or reproductive systems and is not considered to be carcinogenic.”

And according to the Dartmouth University Toxic Metals Research Program:

“Trace amounts of silver are in the bodies of all humans and animals. We normally take in between 70 and 88 micrograms of silver a day, half of that amount from our diet.

“Humans have evolved with efficient methods of dealing with that intake, however. Over 99 percent is readily excreted from the body.

“Is silver harmful to humans?

“Unlike other metals such as lead and mercury, silver is not toxic to humans and is not known to cause cancer, reproductive or neurological damage, or other chronic adverse effects.”

What’s more, unlike prescription drugs which medical authorities now admit kill as many as 250,000 people each year in the U.S. alone, figures from the American Poison Control Center demonstrate that safe, natural colloidal silver usage has killed ZERO people. In short, silver’s toxicity profile is about the same as any other nutritional supplement.

#10. Colloidal Silver Heals Tooth and Gum Problems

Clinical researchers are finally looking into the amazing healing and antimicrobial properties of silver for use in keeping teeth and gums healthy and infection-free. A recent study from China, for example, demonstrated that a “colloidal silver gelatin sponge” utilized on an infected tooth and surrounding gums was able to cure the infection.

Of course, long-time colloidal silver users are abundantly aware of silver’s often miraculous ability to heal infected teeth and gums, including its ability to stop plaque deposits from forming. As one long-time colloidal silver user recently wrote:

#11. Unlike Antibiotic Drugs, Colloidal Silver Is Also Effective Against Many Viral Infections

While colloidal silver is widely acknowledged to be most effective against bacterial infections, it’s also been demonstrated both in clinical research and in anecdotal accounts to be effective against a growing number of viral infections. 

According to the clinical review, “Silver Nanoparticles as Potential Antiviral Agents”:

“Silver nanoparticles have mainly been studied for their antimicrobial potential against bacteria, but have also proven to be active against several types of viruses including human immunodeficiency virus, hepatitis B virus, herpes simplex virus, respiratory syncytial virus, and monkey pox virus. The use of metal nanoparticles provides an interesting opportunity for novel antiviral therapies.”

In another clinical review, titled “Viral Pathogens and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome: Oligodynamic Ag1 for Direct Immune Intervention,” researchers stated:

“Emerging medical studies confirm the antiviral immune intervention of oligodynamic Ag1 [i.e., small, bio-active silver particles – ED] in vitro and in vivo against some of the most formidable viral organisms such as HIV and herpes virus hominis.”

According to the Colloidal Silver Kills Viruses website, Dr Eric Gordon, M.D. and Dr. Kent Holtorf, M.D., writing in the prestigious Townsend Letter for Doctors, believe colloidal silver is the answer to many other viral infections, as well, including serious upper respiratory viral infections such as flu pandemics.

They point out in their article titled A Promising Cure for Upper Respiratory Tract Infection Pandemics, including The Avian Flu: Has the Final Solution to the Coming Plagues Been Discovered? that “the collective authoritative medical literature has documented efficacy of silver’s virotoxicity against over 24 viruses.”

What’s more, the authors state that the 200-plus viral strains known to cause upper respiratory tract infections, including most flu viruses, will also most likely succumb to the powerful antiviral qualities of very small particles of “oligodynamic silver” (i.e., a medical reference to silver being extremely powerful even in small quantities).

In fact, they point out that silver is likely going to be the answer to any future global viral pandemic, stating:

“A broad-spectrum anti-viral agent that really works is needed to combat over 200 viruses that cause Upper Respiratory Tract Infections. Undoubtedly oligodynamic silver fits this bill…Emerging medical studies confirm the stellar, broad-spectrum virotoxic efficacy of oligodynamic silver both in vitro and in vivo.”

In short, colloid silver has been demonstrated to be effective against a wide swathe of bacterial and viral pathogens.  

#12. Colloidal Silver is Also Effective Against Fungal Infections

Studies over the past 10 years have demonstrated colloidal silver to be extremely effective against fungal pathogens, in addition to its profound effects against bacterial and viral pathogens. 

Fungal infections are some of the hardest infections to get rid of, often requiring weeks or even months of treatment with harsh antifungal drugs known to cause liver damage and other side effects. 

Indeed, in one clinical study researchers found that just about all forms of colloidal silver were “equally effective at killing fungal yeasts” such as Candida albicans.
