GLP-1 Weight Loss Drugs

When this comes up I always get the same line: “But it’s just a peptide.”
That’s a chemistry word used as a permission slip.
A peptide is just a short chain of amino acids. Your body already makes thousands of them. Collagen is peptides. Insulin is a peptide. These shots are a modified pharmaceutical peptide built to hang around for a week and hammer appetite so hard that people eat too little protein and too little food. They lose muscle with the fat. Feeling “not hungry” is not the same as being nourished.
There are already a large pile of U.S. lawsuits over stomach paralysis, ileus, bowel obstruction and other gut injuries. Now there are hundreds more over sudden vision loss — a rare eye-nerve condition with no reliable treatment.
Rare is becoming less “rare”, but the more common cost of these drugs is still muscle, nutrients, and a body that forgot how to feel true hunger.
There is still no pill that replaces doing the work.
The work is not white-knuckling a diet. It is fixing why the cravings are running the show — blood sugar swings, junk oils and snack foods, poor sleep, not protein or healthy fats, not enough minerals, a gut that is screaming, and a body that never gets a real rhythm of movement. When those calm down, discipline gets a lot less dramatic.
